Each lesson takes about 8 minutes and covers one focused concept in GRC or Identity Management, sourced from RFCs, NIST publications, and industry whitepapers. Finish a lesson and its quiz to unlock the matching capability at Byte & Co., your in-app fictitious company.
What is Byte & Co.?
Byte & Co. is a fictitious company you build as you learn. Passing the SAML lessons stands up an Enterprise SSO Gateway; acing the SOC 2 quiz earns a SOC 2 Type II Report — your progress through real topics maps to a visible, growing organization.
Does 8-bit Bytes prepare me for a specific certification?
Lessons are mapped to concepts covered by certifications like CompTIA Security+, CISM, and Microsoft AZ-500, but 8-bit Bytes is a study aid, not an official prep course or guarantee of passing any exam.
Can I listen instead of reading?
Yes. Lessons have studio-recorded narration with read-along highlighting, plus an on-device text-to-speech fallback. You can download narration for offline listening on a commute.
How do I remove the ads?
8-bit Bytes is free with ads served by Google AdMob. An optional one-time purchase to remove ads entirely is planned — check the in-app store for availability.
Does my progress sync between devices?
Lesson progress, quiz scores, bookmarks, and highlights are currently stored locally on your device. Cross-device sync is on our roadmap.
How do I reset my progress?
Use Settings → Reset Progress inside the App. This clears your local lesson and quiz history.
Is 8-bit Bytes free?
Yes. All lessons and quizzes are free to use, supported by ads. An optional ad-free purchase is planned.
